Essential Question: How do the issues which prompted the creation of the amendments compare with the issues they are applied to today?

Essential Question answer: One of the issues that prompted the 16th amendment was that the rich were acquiring too much wealth. The direct income tax was needed so that the rich would pay their fair share. This compares to today is that President Barack Obama wants to spread the wealth of America and have more equal income distribution. R.C

Essential Question 2: What impact did your amendment have on society at that time R.C.

Essential Question 2: The impact that the amendment had when it was first created is that many of the people were mad and happy. The rich people were mad because now they had to give their money away and they knew they weren't going to get anything out of it. The not as fortunate people were happy because they wanted the rich to share their wealth and that was what the 16th amendment was doing. This money was used to build bridges, roads, buildings, and many more things. R.C.

Answer 1: The impact of the 16th amendment was that the 16th amendment created income tax. It also allowed congress to have power to lay and collect taxes on income. The income tax amendment became part of the constitution a curious series of events culminating in a bit of political maneuvering that went awry. R.C.

Question 2: Why was the 16th amendment passed R.C.

Answer 2: The 16th amendment was passed because in 1913, the 16th amendment to the U.S. constitution was ratified. It allowed the federal government to levy an income tax. Most people at the time thought income tax was a great idea. People thought income tax was a great idea because they wanted the rich people to pay their fair share and not let the less fortunate suffer. R.C.
