Essential Question: What issues prompted the creation of your amendment?
The 21st amendment was created as a result of the immense failure of the 18th amendment. After the 18th amendment, people still found ways to drink alcohol. In addition, criminals made huge amounts of money by selling alcohol to desperate customers. The 18th amendment which was meant to stop people from becoming intoxicated actually made people more desperate to consume alcohol. It also raised crime rates. Because of these issues the 21st amendment was created to repeal the 18th amendment. (J.F.)

Essential Question: What impact did your amendment have on society at that time? The 21st amendment had a huge impact on the society during the 1930's. For example, the 21st amendment ended the national prohibition that the 18th amendment started. During the national prohibition the crime rate was very high as criminals would smuggle and sell alcohol illegally. However, once the prohibition ended people no longer needed to buy alcohol illegally so those who were selling it ran out of business. Therefore, the 21st amendment helped to lower crime rates.(J.F.)
