Who suggested the 25th amendment?
In 1963, the idea of the vice president inheriting the president's power if the president is unable to fulfill his duties was suggested by New York senator Kenneth Keating. Kenneth Keating. was originally a sergeant for the U.S. military in World War 1 and then later an officer in World War 2. In addition to this he was an ambassador in both India and Israel. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1947. He was the man who urged President Kennedy to take action against Cuba and the Soviet Union prior to the Cuban Missile Crisis. Kenneth Keating was both a good man and a credit to his country.
