Why were men ages sixteen to sixty required to be in the military? B.G
They were encouraged to think of them as a general reserve force to be called out in time of need. Also they wanted more people to join so they expanded the age group
2.Why did the men who didn’t participate in the military have to pay a fee? B.G
The reason was that even though they weren’t fighting they still helped their community by paying for its needs
3. Why were men penalized for not having a gun? M.K
The men had to take part in the military to protect their state and community from other intruders so it was important to have more men join the military.
4.What does the Second Amendment mean? B.G
The amendment means that the government will allow people to have guns or other weapons to protect themselves from harm.
5. Who thought of the Second Amendment? M.K
James Madison originally proposed the idea of this amendment but many other people also helped develop the idea.
6. Why were only men allowed to fight in the military? B.G
The reason is that women could get seriously injured or even killed also at that time women were needed to be around to take care of their houses and children.
7. Where did this amendment get ratified? M.K
It was passed by Congress on September 25, 1784. Also it was ratified in Virginia. On December 15, 1791.
8. Which state did first supported this amendment? M.K
Maryland first supported this amendment. North Carolina, South Carolina, Vermont and Virginia all join after.
9. Why can’t the government take away that right at any time? B.G
The rights are thought of as “natural rights” or “God’s given rights”. It is also a reminder that the government shouldn’t stop people from having that kind of right.
10. How did the government organize the military? M.K
“The Congress shall have the power to provide for organizing arming and disciplining the military land for governing such”. The leader can make someone in charge to organize everything.
