There were many issues that prompted the creation of the 5th amendment. One issue was that before the 5th amendment people were forced to speak and if they did not they would be punished. Also you were able to have double jeopardy. That is when your tried for the same crime twice. Now that we have the 5th amendment we cant be tried for the same crime twice. What impact did your amendment have on society at that time?
The fifth amendment did not have many effects on society. This is because it was meant to be used in court, not as something that effects you outside of the court. It does impact courts though, it allows people to remain silent when asked questions that may later incriminate them. Also no double jeopardy is allowed. After the Constitution was ratified, in court if you were asked a question that could late incriminate you, you could plead the fifth. This gave you the right to not answer that question and remain silent (KD)
