Essential Questions

Essential Question #1:There were many issues that prompted the creation of this amendment. One of these issues was people were getting sick from drinking black market alcohol that was made incorrectly Which could contain toxic chemicals and by the time the 21 amendment was created over 1000 people died from drinking this poisonous kind of liquor.also during this time period America was going through one of there worst years of the great depression and Americas economy wasn't doing to well and many people became unemployed lost their money and businesses and the government wasn't doing to great ether and needed money.Furthermore Americans were spending more money on bootlegged alcohol than anything else so none of the money they were paying for this alcohol was going to the goverment.in addition restaurants and stores also began going out of business because they made mostnof there money off the sale of alcohol. Plus gangsters like Al Capone made big money illegally selling the liquor all over the country.

Essential question#2: the effect the twenty first amendment had on society at that time was it improved the econmy.since the government sold alcohol they could put tax on it and that was a good source of money for them which contributed to getting America out of the great depression.although people were much happier now that they were allowed to buy alcohol without such a hassle and illegal operations selling alcohol eventually stopped going on reducing crime and violence.many restaurants and saloons went back into business which employed more people. So overall taking the ban off of alcohol really wasn't such a bad thing even if people ocassionlly drank a bit to much .although not all the states accepted the amendment right away so it took a bit of time.

Current event 2
The recent restrictions on medic marijuana in the state of Montana have caused some controversy. The Supreme Court ruled that people who deal and distribute, medical marijuana to the public are now restricted to only three patients. This is going to greatly affect all the users of medical marijuana considering in the last years its usage has gone greatly up in number from about 2008-2010 numbers have sky rocketed from about 1000 to well over 25000 people who use medical marijuana. Even though marijuana is typical looked at from a negative point of view it is actually extremely helpful to people and certain medical conditions it essentially numbs the pain and is used from all different types of disorders Crohn’s disease to seizure disorders. Without this treatment of using the medical marijuana patients will be forced to switch their medical treatments and find new alternatives that may not be as effective.
Just like the twenty first and eighteenth amendment the government is once again trying to restrict something from people or even possibly an tithe only difference from this and alcohol is people are actually using this to help them live and survive and by taking it away people can become very sick or ill. Especially since so many people use medical marijuana is the government bans it people are obviously going to rebel because this is something that is helping keeping them or their loved ones alive and without it, it could lead t9 death. With an even bigger reason to need this product taking it away is just going to make people unhappy and give them a good reason to rebel send get it illegally.

Current event
In the twenty first amendment it states that the 18 amendment which was the ban of alcohol was repealed therefore Americans could now drink alcohol freely with no restrictions or ban. In today's society adults over 21 are allowed to drink alcohol but another issue has arose recently in today's society that has some similarities of the ban of alcohol and its repeal. In America smoking has always been very popular despite its harmful and deadly effects on people’s health. In recent years e cigarettes and vaporized cigarettes have become popular among American citizens especially teens even though the amount of teens that smoke regular cigarettes has drooped down. As of Thursday the FDA has decided that the laws on electric cigarettes will be just as strict as the laws and sale of regular cigarettes a main point being that children will no longer be able to purchase or be sold electronic cigarettes .e-cigarette use among high school students rose from 1.5% in 2011 to 16% in 2015. that increase of cigarette usage is extremely dangerous because even though many believe using e cigarettes is better than traditional smoking the 9nvention of e cigarettes was to help people stop smoking not encourage kids to start vaping and gradually move into regular cigarettes. the electronic cigars drawn in children because they feature flavors like cookies and cream, gummy bears and a wide variety of other flavors that you could probably find in an ice cream store which draws teens in to buy the product.
The restrictions of the FDA say e-cigarette on the market every different flavor and nicotine level will require a separate application for federal approval. Although their aren't as many restrictions in the e cigarette that have different flavors which are the ones that rea draw kids in and get them hooked onto the harmful product. Smoking any type of cigarettes is gad for your health but local isn't to great for your heath ether.by putting that ban on alcohol it only made people want the substance more and want to do whatever it took to get it .If we ban cigarette or even restrict them to a certain extent there is a good chance people will rebel like they did with the ban of alcohol and it will make a bigger mess in this F what we already have .therefor banning cigarettes in my opinion is a bad idea no matter how bad they are because if a person really wants some5hing they will find a way to get it regardless of what anyone else says.
