Current Events:
The president has a limit on how long he can serve but other terms have a limit too. Just like the president, the mayor can only serve 2 terms. Michael Bloomberg is the mayor of New York City. He is trying to change the law on how long you can serve as mayor. He wants to run again making it his third term. The mayor had been thinking about running for a third term months ago but finally made his decision to do so. He believes that since the economy is in a ruff place that they need a mayor who is familiar to the citizens." Twenty-six of fifty-one City Council members have agreed to support the bill." Govenor Paterson feared Bloomberg would battle him in the Gubernatorial race. He didn't have anything to say about Bloomberg changing the govenor term limit from two terms to three terms. Some people stated that they would like to see Bloomberg in office for many more years. I don't think we should change the term limit for govenor because at a time like this, we need some new ideas from a new govenor. What if the govenor term limit changes to three terms, then can't the presidnts' change to three terms too? I think that the term limit is set at two for the reason being that we don't want a single person to get too powerful, so why change it?

Current Events:
The twenty second amendment states that a president can only serve two terms. The discussion to serve more then two terms has increased since Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg the mayor of New York City wanted to serve a third four year term as mayor. The city councilmen of the bronx (G. Oliver Koppell) said that the idea of serving three terms within weeks would be introduced. G. Oliver Koppell is part of a group named The People have Spoken Coalition. This group is to help the mayor pass the law of serving a third term. The People have Spoken Coalition have said that New Yorkes have overwhelmingly favored for the term limit of Mayor Blumberg to be extended. Ronald S. Lauder announced plans for a series of television commercials. Mr Lauder helped finance the original campaign in 1993 to create term limits. Some people dislike the fact that Mayor Blumberg wants to serve a third term. most are Citizens of New York and some city council. These people think that it will give the president a chance to increase his amount of terms to three terms also. I think that we should keep the twenty second amendment the same and not add third term that can cause disfunction when coming to the power of a president or even a mayor. BY: Steven N.
This writer is a Republican and feels that Democrats will try to repeal the 22 Amendment because they want to stay in power longer. They will argue that it's because the Bush Administration made things bad for the country and so it will take at least 16 years to change things. Mr Lillpop is being sarcastic and said that if Obama was President for 20 years then one good thing would come out of it; it's that Hillary Clinton will be 82 and too old to run for President. This writer does not like Democrats, especially Hillary Clinton.
