Title: "Illinois Governor Charged in Scheme to Sell Obama's Seat"
Date: Decemeber 9, 2008
Author: Monica Davey and Jack Healy
Since Barack Obama was elected President, somebody had to fill his spot. When there is an empty spot, the governor chooses the new senator or can choose himself. However the Illinois governor, Rod R. Blagojevich, tried to get sell the senate spot to citizens. The government tracked his phone to listen to his calls and heard him trying to get people to pay for the Senate spot. For making these offers, Mr. Blagojevich was arrested at his home and was charged of conspiracy and soliciting bribes. After Obama was elected President, he never discussed the who would be the new senate with Governor Blagojevich. He is accused of asking for millions of dollars in donations fo the empty senate seat. However Blagojevich doesn't feel like he did anything wrong even though citizens were trying to raise almost a million dollars to pay the governor for the senate position.
I thought that this was an interesting article that really helped to explain what was going on. It was a little hard to understand and it was long. But other than that it was a very well written and well explained artcle. To read more about the aritcle, go towww.nytimes.com

Title: "India Neglecting Low-income voters inviolation of Federal law"
Date: 1/8/09
Author: Nicol Kovite
Thousands of indian citizens have been denied illegally to vote. India registered only 80,000 people to vote. Over 385,000 Indians are making less than $25,000 a year. In 1993 a law was passed called "Moter voter". This law stated that motor vehicle companys would have to supply voter registration services. By 2005-2006 they found out that 90 percent of the car companys stopped providing registration services. By November 2008 all of the car companies stopped providing registration services. Now nearly anyone in India had voting regisrtations. Now the major problem is that barley no one in India can vote. www.projectvote.org

Obama want Blagojevich to resign from office. Obama also mention a list of other people who want Blagojevich to resign from office too. Obama thinks that his Senate seat should be filled by doing an election in Illinois. Obama thinks that the assembly of Illinois should put a new senator. Obama want a senator that trust and have confidence on the people of Illinois. Beacause of Blagojevich curruption, it has disrupted Obama's transition to the White House. I agree with Obama because I think that Blagojevich should get kicked out of office. Blagojevich tryed to sell Obama Senate seat which he wasn't allow to do; so he diserves to be kicked out.
