rod

Rod Blagojevich was a governor of Chicago. Rod was arrested for trying to sell Barrack Obama's vacant senate seat. Afterward he refused to resign of his position, so the House of Representatives took a vote and he was impeached. Rod had not been doing well with the public for awhile, his approval rating was 13% in a poll taken in 2008. Before being governor Rod was a member in Congress, when he ran for governor he promised to try and fix the dirty politics in Chicago, even though later he just added to it. When Rod was given the authority to appoint a senator for the vacant seat left by Barrack Obama he thought of it has a "gold mine". Rod was found discussing money with many people for the seat. Not only is Rod in deep trouble so are the men willing to buy the seat off of him. This scandal has caused more corruption in the government in Chicago, Illinois. Rod and his attorney plead that he has done nothing wrong, and many people conspired say they were not involved. This article is related to my amendment because my amendment is about the senate seat and how to deal with vacancies and Rod was suppose to appoint someone like said in the amendment but used his power for money which was wrong and he was caught. This problem would have never occurred if it wasn't for the rules in the 17th amendment saying that the governor appoints a senator if there is a vacancy. There are many cases like this involving the 17th amendment and its rules.

The now impeached govenor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevish, was impeached for sellling or bidding off Obama's seat of Senator. Many of the Senate Officials that Burris lacked the nessessary requirements to become a Senator for having a critizised and tainted govenor. Burris's lawyers took a letter to senate officials affirming the appointment. The Senate Officials "bestowed the designate titile on him".
